Create an Automating Smartphone Dock from Binder Clips
We've shown you how to automate your hotel room with its key cards, and Sam S takes it a step further by using the tip at home:
Lifehacker inspired me to play around with some binder clips, a piece of cardboard and a cocktail stick to make a smartphone stand. I then realized my old NFC travel card fit perfectly in it, and I could use that to automatically trigger things like turning on screen rotation.
Store Toothbrush Heads with Cable Organizers
Brian saves some space on his bathroom counter:
I used IKEA nail in wire guides to store my Sonicare heads on the wall because my bathroom is tiny.
Fill Ziploc Bags with the Help of Empty Containers
Vanessa shares a simple tip for filling up bags in the kitchen:
Some of you may already do this, but I recently realized, when you are filling a Ziploc bag with something:
- Put the bag in a cup or container
- Flip the open end of the bag out and over the lip of the container
- Fill the bag
It's much simpler, and mess-free too.

Take a Photo of Your Grid-It to Remember Its Organization
Bill keeps his cables neat and organized:
I've been using the Grid-It for awhile at Lifehacker's recommendation, and it's great! But I find that if I remove too many things from it at once, I forget how I had them organized, and it's hard to fit it all in again. Last time, I took a photo and stored it in Evernote (or you can put it in Dropbox), and now if I ever forget I can quickly check to see how its all laid out!
