Despite being out-gained on offense, the Washington Redskins used three turnovers to take a 17-3 lead over the Philadelphia Eagles at halftime. Robert Griffin II completed all but one of his passes in the first half, throwing two touchdowns.
The Washington Redskins lead the Philadelphia Eagles, 17-3, after the first half at FedEx Field.
Washington's defense intercepted rookie quarterback Nick Foles twice and forced a fumble, as the Eagles turned the ball over three times in the first half.
Foles finished his first half as an NFL starter with 120 yards on 12 of 22 passing attempts.
Despite being out-gained by the Eagles, the Washington offense was efficient in the first half with Robert Griffin III completing eight of nine passing attempts for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The rookie also rushed four times for 20 yards.
The Redskins opened the scoring in the first quarter, capitalizing on excellent field position to go ahead 7-0 when Griffin III hit Darrel Young for a 6-yard touchdown.
After Philadelphia closed the gap with a 41-yard field goal by Alex Henry, Washington answered back with another touchdown thrown by Griffin III, this time to Aldrick Robinson. The 49-yard score gave the hosts a 14-3 lead.
Kai Forbath tacked on a 25-yard field goal seconds before halftime to send the Redskins into the locker room ahead, 17-3.
Both teams enter the game 3-6 on the season.
